Pulpo a la Gallega: Galician-Style Octopus

This simple yet flavorful dish from Galicia features tender octopus, olive oil, smoked paprika, and potatoes.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1kg octopus, cleaned (available in our store)
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (available in our store)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (available in our store)
  • Coarse salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. "Scare" the octopus by dipping it into the boiling water three times before fully submerging it. Cook for 45-50 minutes.
  3. In another pot, boil the potatoes until tender.
  4. Slice the octopus into rounds and place over the potatoes.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with smoked paprika, and add a pinch of coarse salt.
  6. Serve warm with crusty bread.
